On my list of good habits I wrote on Wednesday, I mentioned monitoring and taking action on different parts of my life. I’m big on self-improvement. I don’t read as many books as I would like, but I do find time to listen to a lot of podcasts, because I can listen to them while doing the dishes or driving to work. Here are my 5 favorite self-improvement podcasts for both business and mind management
Top 5 Self-Improvement Podcasts
1. An Uncluttered Life by Warren & Betsy Talbot
This podcasts focuses on how to remove what isn’t working in your life, so you can make room for good things. This married couple did just that and found the freedom to do amazing things, like build new lifestyles, write books, and travel the world. They don’t just give practical tips to make life better, they discuss the emotions and fears behind the actions that make us feel stuck. Recently, I enjoyed Episode 168 – How to create a routine which supports the life you want.
2. Changeability by Kathryn and Julian
An empowering and inspirational podcast that explores managing your mind to make changes in your life with Kathryn Bryant and Julian Illman. They are British and their accents are delightful. They incorporate inspirational quotes into their podcasts and discuss well-being, success, and managing our mind’s responses. I got some great ideas listening to the episode on setting “feeling” goals.
3. The 5 AM Miracle by Jeff Sanders
Jeff Sanders podcast is mostly interview-based, discussing life habits with successful people. He wrote The 5 AM Miracle where he promotes waking up at a specific time each morning and creating a routine that sets you up for your best life. His extremes are fascinating – he is an ultra runner, eats 10-15 bananas a day, and wakes up at 5 AM. What? I recently enjoyed his episode with Aaron Walker on Making Significance a Habit.
4. Beyond the To-do List by Erik Fisher
An interview-based podcast discussing success and significance with productive people, to help you do more in life and business. He often interviews authors of self-help books and developers of productivity systems or apps. Occasionally, there is a group round-up in which he and a few other productivity experts discuss a specific topic. It is cool to hear the different opinions and approaches. Recently, I enjoyed this episode with Rob Bell on Being Present with Rhythm, Routines and Rituals.
5. Happier with Gretchen Rubin
Co-hosted with her sister Elizabeth Craft, Happier discusses practical advice on using habits and increasing happiness. Two different things? Maybe not. Gretchen Rubin is the author of The Happiness Project and Better than Before (a book about habits, which I read a few months ago). I appreciate the idea behind “the four tendencies” regarding the ways people respond to internal and external expectations. It has helped me gain greater understanding in my marriage.
I’m a big Gretchen Rubin fan and love Happier. I will have to check out these other ones too!
If you like Happier, I think you’ll really like The Uncluttered Life!
Thank you for the good recommendations. I started listening to Uncluttered Life today. It was refreshing to hear a no-fluff, action oriented podcast. I’ve gone through the first four already today and look forward to learning more about streamlining my life to conform to my dreams and goals.
Glad you are enjoying them! I really appreciate their honest and practical perspective.
Next time I read a blog, I hope that it does not disappoint me just as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read through, nonetheless I genuinely believed you would probably have something interesting to talk about. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you can fix if you were not too busy looking for attention.
